Valastro
was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, to Buddy Valastro, Sr., and Mary Valastro on
March 3, 1977. He was raised in Little Ferry, New Jersey. Valastro began
working at his family's business, Carlo's Bakery at age 11, alongside his
father. Valastro's father passed away when he was 17 in 1994, and he succeeded
him as the new "Cake Boss."
Buddy Valastro is an American celebrity chef, entrepreneur, and reality television personality. He currently serves as head baker at Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken, New Jersey, which has recently built a new factory at Lackawanna Center, a mixed industrial/retail complex in Jersey City, and opened multiple branch locations.

Valastro Sr. in 1964. Since the untimely passing of Bartolo Sr. in 1994,
matriarch Mary Valastro, along with her daughters, Grace, Maddalena, Mary, and
Lisa, her son, master baker Bartolo Jr. “Buddy” Valastro, and their spouses
